I have setup an R2 box with a base O/S, continued the installation using CD2 as prompted during setup, and installed the three DFS subcomponents of the main DFS option from add/remove components.
Windows Server 2003 R2 edition is advertised as having several benefical changes to DFS over a non-R2 2003 server.
My first question:
In order to leverage the benefits of the R2 DFS improvements, do I need to install or configure anything other than a standard DFS root, or are these improvements built into the O/S ? .. To be more specific, after continuing the installation with CD2, can I now just 'click and go' .. or do I need to upgrade anything? .. I have no existing DFS roots on the server or in the domain if this makes any difference.
My second question:
Whereabouts in DFS can I adjust settings such as replication times or the other additional functions with R2 DFS? .. I'm looking to know a little bit more than just the name of the management tool.. ie: what properties tabs I need to find (if any), and what do I click the properties of to bring them up. A URL reference could be a suitable answer to this.
My third question:
Do these settings work on a root by root basis for all DFS roots that have been configured, or do they work on an all DFS that goes through the server basis?
Thanks.
