Deactive LCS 2005 in SBS 2003 Premium domain

Asked by u101440 in Windows 2003 Server, SBS Small Business Server, MS Live Communications Server

I am having a problem deactivating an LCS 2005 installtion on a member server within the domain. THe server hasn;t been playing properly for a while now and has been giving some strange AD errors so I'm looking to deactivate LCS and demote the server (as it's a DC on the domain).

Problem is that when I try uninstalling LCS I'm prompted to deactive it first. When I try deactivating it (by opening the LCS 2005 window) I receive the following error:

Live Communication Server Snap-in cannot insert the child nodes. Restart Microsoft Management Console (MMC), and then try again

with the Event Viewer I see the following related errors:

I've reset the LCSService account (as I thought it may be password related) but no joy. I've even tried the domain admin but the same thing happens.
