Microsoft Exchange 2007 Certificate Install

What are the steps for removing the default certificate from Exchange 2007 and setting up a 3rd party certificate to replace it?

1. Create a second temporary website
2. Create the certificate request file on the temp website
3. When the external CA sends the response, continue on the temp website to complete the certificate registration.
4. Now the certificate with private key should be in the computer certificate store
5. Open the proper website properties > directory security > server certificate
6. Remove the existing certificate
7. Go back into the server certificate wizards
8. Assign an existing certificate
9. Select the new cert and go through the rest of the wizard to complete

I have a question along these lines...

We have practiced crashed our box before putting it into production and in the process have found the recovery methods I have read through (extensively) are useless...  I have slowly been able to build everything back up, however my big issue follows:

Our freshly purchased $600 alternative subject names cert has no way to reinstall.  Everything appears ok after running it through the mmc and then back into IIS, however I am receiving the error "The SSL server credential's certificate does not have a private key information property attached to it. This most often occurs when a certificate is backed up incorrectly and then later restored. This mes........"

I have since found the commands to "properly" backup the server, however I do not know how to get IIS to accept this cert.

Any thoughts?

I do have a full backup from the server, pre crash, however I cannot restore folders or system state without running into major issues.  Also I have the owa.xml that Microsoft shows how to backup, however when I run the restore script I continue to get errors that "owa is already in place"
tgrizzel - this is an old question. Unlike a forum it is not possible to bump questions back on to the list. Therefore the only people who see your question are those that have already posted in the question. I would suggest you post your question fresh so that other experts can see the question and respond.
