The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Active Directory sites and services advice

Asked by armatage in Windows 2003 Server

We have 7 offices around the UK. In AD S&S we only have the default site setup and we have an OU for each office in AD U&C with a GPO for each site. We only have 1 domain.

One of the problems is that computers can get their group policies from any of the office domain controllers and we believe this may cause some problems like My Documents redirection. My current understanding is that with AD S&S you can make workstations in one office only get their GPO's from the local DC and not a random DC in another office.
Do any other settings need to be made apart from making new sites for each office in AD S&S and move the associated DC to each site and adding the correct subnet for that site in the subnet folder?
What is the inter domain transfer folder for?

What problems can be experienced when setting up AD S&S?

We have a central subnet that each office subnet communicates and the central site has the exit out onto the Internet (via firewall and virus server) I take it that this will have to be in its own site as well.

Will AD U&C still be the same with an OU for each site?

Any useful resources would be welcome.

All DC's are server 2003 SP2

Cheers all
