Volume Shadow - Previous Versions Disappeared

Asked by aramirezomni in Windows 2003 Server, MS System Center

I installed VSS on a my brand spanking new Windows Storage Server and everything was going great. Today somebody asked me if I could undelete a file for them. I explained that they could, by just right clicking the folder it was in and going to previous versions. I did this to show them and low and behold the previous versions tab was BLANK!!

This is a folder I know for a fact has changed and I've been running this server for a couple of months. There is no reason this should not have previous versions.

I checked and the previous version store was blank, 0MB. I don't know how it happened but somehow magically this thing reset itself. It's too late to do something about it, and I was able to restore from backup. Has anyone else had this happen? Without any error messages in the event viewer? It's really killing me. I relied on that service. Start Free Trial
