How to hanlde WSUS for laptops that move from branch to branch

HI,

I've setup a Main WSUS server at the Head office, and a downstream WSUS server at each of our branches.

Each branch has a number of desktops. Each branch also is home to a number of laptops that migrate between branches.

I've setup SITE GP so computers iin the Active Direcory SIte (the branch) and are also members of a security group that lists all the branches computers, have WSUS settings set so they get their updates from the Branches WSUS server. THis should mean that only computers that are listed as being members of the Branch Groujp and are currently at their home site, get WSUS settings defined, otherwise they dont update. So, for example a visiting laptop doesnt get WSUS updates, where as once it's back its "home" site it does.

Icant see any other way of doing this. I have seen documentation from MS suggesting the use of subnets and round-robin, but the subnetting arrangement at the branches will not allow me to use this method.

IS what I'm currently doing the the best method?

Do I need to have computer groups setup (this is a pain administratively)? i.e. could I just have it set so a visiting laptop gets its WSUS updates from the branch it's currently at, or will this mess up WSUS?

THe main objectives are

1 - Ensure that Desktops get updates from their Branch WSUS server
2 - Ensure that Laptops visiting branches do not update over the WAN to their "home" WSUS server
3 - Ensure that WSUS doenst get messed up with computers moving between WSUS servers
4 - Ensure that laptops get updates!
