What is "Remote Server Monitor" (appmon.exe) and where can I get it?

I'm trying to implement a tool that verifies security policies for my company.  One of the policies requires that a service called "Remote Server Monitor" (appmon.exe) is disabled.  I need to perform positive and negative testing, which means that I need to install the service on my test machine and then disable it.  (Not having it installed is not good enough for testing purposes.)

I've scoured many sites throughout the Internet and found reference to this application, but it all seems to be outdated and/or not applicable to Windows 2003.  I've seen reference to this application on pages that talk about an NT Resource Kit, Back Office, and other pages.  I'm not certain what package contains this application, so I can't install it.  It appears that the application is meant for monitoring applications on remote servers.

I need to install this on a Windows 2003 server.  Has anyone ever installed this?  Where can I get it?Start Free Trial
