I have a two server domain. One is an older Windows 2000 server and newer server is 2003. The 2000 server is PDC.
Whenever I try to login via console on the 2003 server, the process goes through the motion of loading personal settings, then it stops that goes straight into saving personal seetings. The next thing is back to the Ctl.Alt.Del window ready to login.
I can ping the server from the network via name and IP, however none of the shares are working. I had to redo the shares based on IP address. From my 2000 machine I cannot connect to the 2003 via Active Directory Users and Compters or DNS or Event viewwer using netbios name. However, I can via IP.
I am ready to wipe the machine clean, but I woul like to see if anyone has an idea on maybe doing some registry changes or demote remotely or similar. I tried safe mode and Active Directory Restore mode, but I got the same problem.
to be honest, its going to be quicker to wipe it and start anew - i rarely say it, but in this sort of thing is makes more sense - you can be up and running in a few hours
