Users logging in occasionally receive a temp profile

Hi there, we have an issue here where occasionally a user will login and get logged in under a temp profile.  To resolve the issue the user simply logs off and back in.
This is happening to several users on our network but I can't reproduce it consistently.  Our Help Desk will get about 10 calls per day always from different users regarding this.
We are using roaming profiles which sit on a Windows 2003 share.  We have just eliminated Novell here and went all Microsoft.  Our Desktops are XP pro SP2
