Step 1 Scripting for Windows 2003 AD

Hello......I am brand new to scripting and I am learning on ........http://www.microsoft.com/technet/scriptcenter/topics/beginner/firststeps.mspx

On the web page I am trying to do Step 1 but I am doing somethiong wrong?? I save the Notepad as test.vbs and select All Files prior to selecting Save. Once I do this...Im confused on using the cmd prompt and locating the script?? Save it to the Desktop or in a folder?? Please help and guide me to the right path. Thanks....All I want to do right now is complete Step 1 on the web page....I dont want any new links at this time...Thansk again
