What happens to backup domain controllers if VPN is lost between two locations

Tags: microsoft, windows, 2003R2, connections and status of primary vs backup domain controllers

We have three locations, Location 1 with W2K3 Server as Primary Domain controller, Location 2 with W2K3 server as backup domain controller, Location 3 with W2K3 server as backup domain controller

Locations connected via router configured VPN connection.

Servers comm fine. Concerned as to what is going to happen with the VPN goes down to the Backup controller at Location2 or Location3?

Will the backups try to switch to primary?

If the VPN comes back, will the current primary at location1 be demoted to backup (do not want this, always want location 1 to be primary)Start Free Trial
