Restore windows 2003 to vmware server gives BSOD while boot

I tried to use vmware convertor first to restore the windows 2003 AD server to vmware, but it's not recommended since the server is a primary active directory (and the onlyone AD for the domain). vmware convertor works, but then AD gives trouble. So that's why i tried a plain HIR restore.

Restoring the partitions works well, but i've tried to import the drivers of the vmware server tools into the HIR (= hardware independant restore) of the shadow protect recovery cd environment.

After reboot, the vm w2003 boots but crashes with a bluescreen.

In the HIR it self, it seems it can not load the drivers of the vmware tools. Anyone been able to successfully restore a windows 2003 to vmware server with shadow protect?
