Windows 2003 Storage Server and VSS & Overhead

I'm looking into getting an HP Widnows 2003 SAN for my medium size company. I have the followig questions regarding VSS though:

1) How much overhead on VSS causes ie: disk space, cpu usage, memory etc..
2) How does VSS reacting to additional of extra physical disk?
