Upgrade from Windows 2000 Server to Windows 2003 Server

My client has a Windows 2000 Server in place.  Need to upgrade the server to 2003.  They own a copy of Windows 2003 that was previously installed on a pc, no longer used.   Can I use the Full Version copy to UPGRADE the Windows 2000 Server, or must I have upgrade CDs?   I have not tried to use the Full Version copy, just trying to be prepared before going onsite.
