Hey everyone...
I have a server that we are desperately attempting to decommission. I've inherited this server... and have now realized that it was the "offline folder" server. When i finally got everything off it and shut it down.. all my users experienced significant decreases in speed accessing files... even if those files were on other servers. this has also shown up when accessing local files in some cases.
my thoughts are that most of the clients in this environment have offline folders configured on them..and when i take the legacy server offline all the clients have to wait for a timeout.... then they can access other shares.
Server specs
windows 2003 standard
What I need to know is if it is possible to disable off line folders centrally through AD... deploying a vb script.. something... and what is the best way to push that out to all my users.
looking forward to some creative suggestions
Cheers
