Emails are being blocked based on bogus HELO name used by the sending server
Hi
I have a web server that is part of a "workgroup". It has the server name of "dell-1". I am using Windows Server 2003.
However, when it sends out bulk emails via our software, some people don't receive our emails because they are blocked. They are blocked because:
-------
Emails are being blocked based on bogus HELO name used by the sending server.
Unfortunately, this check that our gateways perform is universal and exceptions cannot be configured.
The HELO name used by the school server is "dell-1" and it does not comply with RFC 821 which clearly states that the HELO name should be a FQDN of a sending host.
-------
How can I change my servers settings or SMTPs details in IIS so that this doesn't happen?
Does anyone know what "Primary DNS suffix of this computer:" means/does? Is it related? It can be found at: in Control Panel / System / Computer Name tab / Change... / More...
