It is affecting everyone intermittenly. It's not just one user or one group.

Browse All TopicsI have a Windows Server 2003 SP2 network. My users are setup with a home folder in their Active Directory profile. Most of the time it maps at logon with no problem. When it doesn't, it says its mapped but when you open it it gives a not available error. Other times it maps the root of the share and not the users folder. This is a big problem because many of my users have pst files in thier home folder and they can't access them. I looked at the wait for network at logon group policy setting but that says by default windows waits for network when the home folder is used.

Do you map any other drives with a login script? If so, do these consistently map?
What kind of server do the home folders exist on? Is it healthy or are you seeing other file access issues with it? If it's not already on, turn on security auditing and keep an eye on the security logs to see if the server is preventing the connection for some reason.
The shares are all on one server. There is a SAN involved. The network runs smooth otherwise. I did setup a test OU with a test group policy. It sets the wait for network at logon parameter. I have been told that Server 2003, by default uses this setting when home folders are used. But I have had good results so far with the couple test users I have used. I am giving it time before rolling it out network wide.
