The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

WSUS 3.0 not downloading.

Asked by TTCLIVE in Windows 2003 Server, Network Management

Tags: Microsoft, Server (Standard Edition), 2003 R2, WSUS 3.0

For some reason WSUS stopped downloading updates! On the Default WSUS program page, it gives me the following info:

Synchronization Status
Status: idle
Last Synch: 10/20/2008 1:18pm (because I just tried to synch again)
Last Synch Results: Succeeded

Download Status
Updates Needing Files: 217
Downloaded 0.00 MB of 4,791.51 MB

Connection
Type: Local/SSL
Port: 80
User Role: Administrator
Server Version: 3.0.6000.374

And the event viewer shows me this error for all the downloads that did not work:

Content file download failed. Reason: The server does not support the necessary HTTP protocol. Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) requires that the server support the Range protocol header.
Source File: /msdownload/update/software/secu/2008/09/windowsserver2003.windowsxp-kb956841-x64-enu_95303a91198a9ba1467e5bd23be11bb97e31b1e7.exe Destination File: c:\WSUS\WsusContent\E7\95303A91198A9BA1467E5BD23BE11BB97E31B1E7.exe.

I tried the URL directly and can dowload the updates and it works just fine so I don't think it's a firewall issue. I also have been directed to this site repeately by other posts: http://wsus.editme.com/ContentFileDownloadFailedAccessDeniedNoHTTP

but I do not have this tool in this directory: \osql\osql.exe

I have a Barracuda web filter, but I don't see it blocking anything from the server.

Anybody have any ideas?
