The monitor settings you can see during boot. If you can see the boot sequence, the monitor is ok so far.
As you changed the video driver, I would assume the error here. Or have you change it after the error?
You may try to boot into protected mode to see what happens. If the protected mode starts normaly (maybe with default VGA), there may be a setting within the enhanced properties of the video driver (sceen sttings) like monitor color shemes of something like that. Some drivers also allow to set brightness and luminance.
Do you have some information what happend before? Does it change from one day to another or after changing oder updating something?

Is the motherboard a server board with onboard VGA? If not and it has a seperate video card could the fan have stopped causing it to overheat? I have also seen things like this when PSU's (power supplies) are on their last legs.
