The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Windows Server 2003 NetBT 4321, Windows XP Clients not registering with DNS

I am running a Network with a Single DC with Exchange. I have 10 Windows XP Machines and 5 Vista Machines and 1 Server 2003 Member server. On the 10 XP clients I am getting NetBT errors and the machines are not registering with AD DNS. The 5 Vista machines and the member server are not getting these errors and are listed in the DNS zone just fine. I have looked at a few of the other questions with this and most of them suggest WINS problems except I am not running a WINS configuration. I have also read about disabling NetBios I have nothing Pre-XP running or planned to be ran but Have read this can have adverse effects on future domain/forest trusts.. I downed my network and booted everything one by one all network equipment then DC then the clients and have confirmed with nbtstat -a <dc ip> it holds the master browser and only the XP machines are yelling.. Is it safe to just turn off NetBios or is there other things I can check?
