I am having the same problem on a Windows 2003 x64 bit server and I am not running Symantec. I also did try to rebuild the per counters without any luck. Have you found a solution?

I found an article on how to fix this for Server 2003 32 but it does not seem to apply to the 64bit version. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

Just a little verification from here. After removing Windows Search 4.0 from my machine the perflib errors have not returned. Given the frequency of the errors in the past, I believe it should have happened by now. For anyone using this article to try to resolve their own issues give it a try. It resolved the issue for both of us.

I'm having the same problem on my Windows 2003 x64 bit server. I don't have the answer, but I'll let you know what I did so far so you don't duplicate the work. I DID follow the instructions on the link above, but it didn't work - as you probably have figured out already.
You wouldn't happen to be running: Symantec Enterprise Protection - Version 11.0.4000.2295 would you?
