Hi JoWickerman,
We have Root domain controller and Addition domain controller, whereas Mail retrieving error changing from Root domain controller to Addition domain controller during certain interval of time.
Can i have some hints "replicating the system folder to all exchange servers". What does it mean here?
Exchange server is exchange 2007 Its a not a remote Exchange server. I didnt find any errors in DC specifically on this. Some users are connecting via POP3 protocol and some users are connected using MAPI protocol.
Especially on MAPI users when try to retrieve mails and Retrieve address book information this popup occurs. Its a timely occur and not everytime.
Need to check anything on firewall setting? please suggest.
Appreciate on quick response.
Hi,
This is definately a DC issue. You can test with this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/d
Is this DC a Global Catalog as well?
Wanted to add:
You can go to site and services in AD and find the server object and uncheck the mark for this server where is says Global Catalog server and make this server DC only.
I assume you have already another DC/GC in your environment for exchange to use, make sure you have DC/GC available, otherwise you will have troubles and mail wont flow.
This way your exchange server (DSaccess) will not use this DC since it is not GC (Global Catalog) anymore. One of the most common reasons for exchange is retrieving information from XXX server message is poor Global catalog server performance, since exchange uses DC/GC for referrals (AD lookups).
Please run Outlook in Safe Mode to troubleshoot the issue. You can run the following command to start Outlook in Safe Mode
Outlook /Safe
Please check whether the following link is helpful for you to troubleshoot the issue:

Please also run the EXBPA tool in order to improve performance.

Performance may be affected when desktop search engine software is running on Outlook or other MAPI client computers

Hi kavidevan,
As per a post:
"If the message says a domain controller then Outlook is having problems communicating with the domain controller. You might want to look to see if the DC concerned has problems. Outlook is constantly looking at domain controllers.
If it is a remote Exchange server then that means Outlook is trying to contact that server. Ensure that you are replicating the system folders to all Exchange servers so that Outlook doesn't have to go looking for data."
Are you sure you have no errors on the DC?
