Question

Group policy options not present!

I' trying to set "set the terminal server licensing mode" group policy option. It is present on the terminal servers if i run gpedit.msc (under computer config > admin templates > win components > terminal svcs), however when I edit the domain policy (using gpmc.msc) the options are not there.

I have installed the 2003admsetup.msi from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=92759D4B-7112-4B6C-AD4A-BBF3802A5C9B&displaylang=en
but still no go..

anyone got any ideas?

Hi there,

Terminal Service policies are part of system.adm.

On the machine you're using the GPMC on, check the folder C:\Windows\inf for system.adm.

Also check the group policy folder \\domain\sysvol\domain.local\policies\{31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\Adm\ --- Is system.adm here?

Aah, sysvol and my machines (where I'm running gpmc from) both have a version modified on 14 April 08, 1745720 bytes, whereas the terminal server has one in windows\inf modified 29 June 09 at 1765776 bytes.

Can I just copy the later version to my machine and the sysvol, or is there a better way?

Hi,

What service pack are you running?  You need to be running SP1+ on the DC you're creating the policy from.  Then you'll see the setting.  If you're currently at SP1 and are editing a policy that was previously created when the SP was less than SP1 you may not see the setting and will have to re-create the policy.

all is good, i installed the updated template from the terminal server using gpmc (right click on admin templates and add/remove)
