Renaming a child domain in Windows 2003 Server

Hello,

I have a child domain configured off our our root.  It has 2 DC's, a SQL Server and a WSS Server.  

I want to rename the domain.  I know the option is available in 2003, but have always been too scaredy-cat to use it...

thoughts?  Anybody ever done it?  Recommendations?  I dont want to rebuild the domain from scratch.

What is the reason to rename a child domain.Did you consider UPN suffixes.

My though is use ADMT and migrate your child to a new child (with the proper name).

The SQL server might cause some problems (ie. SQL based programs pointing to the sql server's FQDN).

MOSS 2007 don't support a domain rename. Not sure with WSS though.

The domain rename is a streigh forward process IF you do it in a newly build domin in a lab. A production environment can be harder to rename.

I have done it in virtual environment. i used NETDOM to rename my child domain and it worked seemlessly

None of these solutions were any good.  I used the domain rename tools as provided by Microsoft and everything worked fine.
