chang to local computer policy - windows settings - scripts - not working via GP ...

We've created a GPO for startup / shutdown scripts that modifies the Local Computer Policy --> Computer Configuration --> Windows Settings --> Scripts of all servers in our domain and we've linked this to the domain controllers OU as a test.  The problem is that it doesn't seem to matter what  do on the domain controllers (I've tried gpupdate several times) - none of the servers get the change to their local computer policy settings.

What am I doing wrong ?

Hi there,

That's becuase the scripts are not applied as a local policy, they are group policy. Some group policies will actually write to the local policy and therefore tattoo, but not all.

Scripts will not show in local policy (gpedit.msc). Try running an RSoP query (rsop.msc) or gpresult /z to show any applied startup/shutdown scripts.

yea, as Tony said, you have to use resultant set of policy to see what policies are applied. Group Policy Results in Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) requests RSoP data from a  computer and presents this in a report where you can view the applied policies. download  http://www.microsoft.com/DownLoads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0a6d4c24-8cbd-4b35-9272-dd3cbfc81887&displaylang=en
