Browse All TopicsI want to create a group policy to disable the ability of users to use the Restore button on the Previous Versions tab in Windows XP. I DO want users to be able to copy an old version of a file back into their folder without the risk of them accidentally restoring an entire department's directory to an older state.

Thanks for the help jaynir. I do understand how shadow copy works, but i need to disable the feature that allows users to restore a whole share folder.
I DO want people to be able to restore a file by COPYING the file/folder... I just don't want them to hit the restore button on a shared folder and wipe out 2 hours of file changes throughout the department.
The hotfix 888603 for restricting the previous versions tab mentioned in http:#25729705 is included in XP SP3.
For pushing the registry entries, use logon script with reg command as described in the KB above or use Group Policy Preferences
