Question

One user Cannot receive email from an outside person but others in the domain can

Asked by: tracymr

I have a user who used to be able to receive email from a particular person outside of our domain.  Now she cannot, the below is what I get when I used Exchange message tracing.

SMTP: Message submitted to advanced queuing.
SMTP: Started Message Submission.
SMTP: Message submitted to categorizer.
SMTP: Message categorized and and queued for routing.
SMTP: Non-Delivered Report (NDR) Generated.

Other users in my domain can still receive emails from this person so the problem is only affecting one user.

Any suggestions?

Yes, what is the NDR content ?

Sometimes, it is caused by user's mailbox quota excess or too large size attachment to reject incoming email

One more, the case...
SAME email is sent to ALL users by this person, and then only one user cannot get THIS email ?

We have an exchange 2003 server and this user uses Outlook.  This particular user is utilizing 40 MB out of a 150 MB allotment so it's not the size.  Being that I don't know or have dealings with the sender I don't have the NDR as of yet.  I'm trying to get that.

rhinoceros,
Yes the case is the SAME email is sent to several users on our domain and all users except this one receives the email.  When viewing the trace of the email when it hits her mailbox it generates the NDR.

Is there a way to view the NDR on the Exchange server side without having to ask the original sender for it?

by: Raheem05Posted on 2009-11-05 at 06:21:30ID: 25749699

Tracymr,

You will have to get the NDR from the sender there is no other way once you have this we can see why its being rejected :)
