WSUS errors (Client and server)
Hello
Took over a very malnourished site and we are trying to get things back to working order for them
One of the things I have tried to fix is their WSUS installation.
Their initial windows internal database was broken - so I've installed SQL 2008 R2 express and installed the WSUS application / database on that
The server is able to sync with windows updates - however does not report into itself. This is where I've done some looking
Wuinstall (http://www.wuinstall.com/index.php/en) can see the server but reports the error:
Wuinstall /search
You are using WSUS Server http://<SERVER>:8530

Am I right to start looking at the ASP .net settings / version? I have a feeling a prerequisite for WSUS is not functioning correctly

Hello and thatnks for your input
I should have mentioned that I had already seen the fixes as per http://www.microsoft.com/products/ee/transform.aspx?ProdName=.NET+Framework&ProdVer=2.0.50727.42&EvtID=13042&EvtSrc=Windows+Server+Update+Services&FileVer=2.0.50727.42&FileName=Ev
I had already reinstalled the server components as well
I am using SQL 2008R2 as the windows internal database component is broken; installing this (in this case) was quicker than repairing this component (which at the time of this writing has been)
Im aware of the database limitations but this install is very small (5 workstations and one server) so I doubt we are going to hit the ceiling there

I have fixed the issue myself
Basically .net was the culprit - mixed with root permissions on the WSUS install volume

Interesting. I did say that what you mentioned was valid - and is a valid fix in many occasions. It just isnt; and wasnt the fix in this instance. So I dont see how accepting it as a solution is valid?

Meaning? If anyone is able to provide a solution for any of the previous questions I've had - Im happy and willing to award points where neccesary. I only open questions here when I'm stuck (and in many cases where Micrsoft is stuck too) and I am yet to receive many (if any) valid solutions....
