WSUS Updates on WSUS server preventing other Updates

I have WSUS 3.0 SP 2.

There are 8 updates in the WSUS Updates view.  I have approved the updates but my server with WSUS is not applying the updates.

I think that since these updates have not been applied, it is causing an error when trying to update my win7 machines: 800B0001

What am I missing to get these updates done so I can get my workstation up to date?

Well the first thing I see from that screenshot is

'Computers needing this update : 0'

Which normally means there are no computers on your network that need that update...

Is this a new install of WSUS?
In the Computers section are your pc's and servers listed?

ASKER

It is not a new install.  The report says that the updates are not applicable but when I went to the kb article, it says that it is needed for the OS.

Yes the pc and servers are listed.  When I look at the server report, there are some updates that are set to install for the approval and the status is downloaded.

But I have not been able to get those applied either.

Show us a screenshot of the Computers/Servers section please...

Do you have a Windows 2003 X64 server?

The status 'Downloaded' on that report usually means the update is sitting on the client machine waiting to be installed...are your servers set to 'Auto install' or 'manual install' do you know?

Might need last 20 or so lines from the C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log file on the given server to see what its showing...
sever 2003 R2 sp2 32 bit

Screenshot is attached

Servers are set to download the updates but I choose when to install them.

Did you want the log as a text file or pasted in as a response?

Ok, but do you have an X64 version of 2003 as well? Cause your first screenshot shows an update for X64...

Basically copy the last 30-40 lines from the WindowsUpdate.log file into another blank notepad file and attach that file here thanks...
no 64bit 2003 servers.

Only 64bit are 2008 r2

I will get the KB2720211 update and apply it.
Yep, that will kick things back into place...keep us posted...
That worked.

Where on microsoft site can you find the latest build number?  I looked around and I could not find a build number to compare to my current version.
I don't know the exact page on Microsoft site to find that...here's the only link I have to show the version numbers

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/d436fac6-0f93-4061-80bd-4c44b515e321/what-is-the-latest-version-of-wsus

Notice it doesn't list 251...once you install KB2720211 you have 251 then...
