Changing Domain on Existing Small Business Server 2003

I have a client who has restructured and would like to change the domain name on an SBS 2003 box.  I needed to know any hurdles that I will be facing, or if it is even a reasonable move.  Also, as a side note, I was wondering about the differences, pros, and cons of naming a .com vs a .local domain.  Discuss amongst yourselves ...  and thanks!
