The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Join EBS 2008 to existing domain

Asked by Ycare in Essential Business Server, SBS Small Business Server, Windows Server 2008

Hello,

So it seems EBS is a rather new product, and I couldn't find much on the knowledge database about my problem, so here is my question to you, Experts !

My client currently has an SBS 2003 x86 running on his domain, doing almost everything, it's now getting really overloaded and getting closer to the point of no return.

I have been looking for different solutions, the more expensive being Windows Server 2008 Standard and add to it SQL Server 2008 Standard as well as Sharepoint Services (plus migrating a few services from the SBS). This sounds great, but very costly.

Another cheaper option is to use Windows Essential Business Server 2008 in x64, add it to the domain, and have it take over SQL and Sharepoint (plus Antivirus and File Server).

My question is: Will EBS and SBS play along nicely, or is EBS another SBS in disguise, which HAS to take most of the key roles by force (DNS, DC, DHCP, Exchange, etc...) ? Can it act nicely as a Secondary DC without being the Primary ?

I know two SBS cannot coexist on the same network, but what about an EBS and an SBS ?

Anyone with any ideas or knowledge, feel free to share.

Thanks a lot in advance !
