EBS Admin console fails to start after KB955706 installed

I have been runninga fairly happy EBS 2008 setup for around 1 month now, however i installed Microsoft sqlserver 2005 express edition with advanced services service pack 3(KB955706) on the management server, immedietelay after the restart i was unable to open the ebs admin console with the following error.

I also cannot open SCE2007 at all with the following error

I immediately removed the update, restarted and crossed my fingers, same issue, in event veiwer the only thing that it could be is as follows:

Event ID 2268
source IIS-W3SVC-WP
Could not load all ISAPI filters for site 'WSUS ADMINISTRATION'.  Therefore site startup aborted.

In IIs i checked the WSUS Administration website, and the folder that contained the website has been Wiped, its just not there,  I then tried to restore the folder from backup, whenever it starts it says version mismatch.

Is there a way to fix this by reinstalling the SCE2007 component for example without a complete reinstall?
