Hyper V Ping Virtual Machine from Host and get Destination host unreachable

I have migrated my Virtual Machine image (Windows 2003) from Virtual Server 2005 R2.  Everything works well including the network connection within Virtual Machine.  I am able to browse and connect to internet within Virtual Machine.  However, when I attempt to ping the Virtual Machine from the host machine, I get Destination host unreachable.  I have removed the Network Adapter and added "Legachy Network Adapter" as well.  But the Virtual Machine is not discoverable from the external.  Please help!

When you setup the virtual network ; did you selected the type as "External"

External type will allow your virtual machine to appear as physical server on your local subnet as other machines

also, make sure they are on teh same IP addressing range and subnet mask with the same default gateway

You need to make sure that is set you external and not internal. Please check you settings. Also, make sure that the host computer is on the same subnet as the guest even though the VM is actually located on the host server it doesn't mean they are one the same network.

This is odd.  I was able to follow the suggestion to create a new external network and got a Virtual Machine to connect to external and I can ping the Virtual machine as well.  But I have two Virtual Machines and the other one can connect to external but the external cannot ping the Virtual machine.  Do I reboot the Virtual Machine?
