How to change the top menu items in Sharepoint
First time using share point. Can i change the items that are listed on the top menu bar, if yes how?
Right now i have listed: home, docuemtns and list, create, site settings, and help. I would like to make changes here by removing or adding to this list.

Note: Doing changes in the frontpage will UnGhost your pages. also the change has to be carried over by other sites mannually.
To modify the top menu item
1.Open the Sharepoint Site in the front page
2.Click on the Add Link on the Top Nav Bar.
3. Add the Links
4. Save and Close the web site.
You are done.
Also their is an another way to change the links. This method will not alter the existing sites but it will affect the new sites.
1. Navigate \templates\1033\sts\XML folder
2. Open the onet.xml in the notepad
3. Add the following to <NavBar> Tag
<NavBarLink Name="Custom1" Url='http://yoursites/default.aspx'> </NavBarLink>
4. Save and close the file.
Here after when you create a team site you will the 'Custom1' link on the Top Menu bar
Hope this gives some idea.
