Windows Sharepoint datasheet Read Only after upgrade to Office 2007 SBE

I upgraded my computer to Office 2007 SBE. Now all the datasheets I view on Windows Sharepoint are read only. I have administrative rights to the site.

This may not be related to office 2007. Not sure why the view is read only though.

I figured it out, kind of. With the installation of Office 2007 (12.0), it installs an IE active x addon called Microsoft Office List 12.0. This allows you to view lists in Sharepoint in datasheet view. For some reason its read only. If you disable Microsoft Office List 12.0 and view the list in standard view it works fine.

Any ideas as to why its read only?

When I disabled this add-on, I recieved the following error:

Error Message:

The list cannot be displayed in Datasheet View for one or more of the following reasons:
-A datasheet component compatible with Windows SharePoint Services is not installed.
-Your web browser does not support ActiveX controls.
-Support for ActiveX controls is disabled.  

So I cannot even display the list in data sheet view with this add-on disabled.

I believe the DataSheet view usued to only be available if you had Microsoft Access installed.  It appears that with Office 2007 they've given anyone the ability to view lists in data sheets, but it appears you must have access to edit data in datasheet views.
