Purpose of Save Draft button in the task list item at sharepoint site

Hi,
   Can you please tell me in detail the purpose of the "save draft" button on the task list item on a sharepoint site.Also where are the datas stored after clicking on this button? and from where can we view this data..

"save draft" allows you to save a copy without publishing it.

to answer your question about where a Saved Draft is stored:
"When a workflow participant clicks either Complete Task or Save Draft on the custom task form, the information submitted in the form is stored in an item in the Tasks list."

so, it is saved to the list... except only entry authors and admins can see it.
