Search Scope in default drop down

I cannot get the All SItes and People search scopes to show up in the default upper right search drop down. I have created a Search Site and they do show up there. In Site Settings, Search Scopes, they are listed under the View Scopes - Display Group: Search Drop Down. They show as Ready, and show the number of items.
Thanks

Check the "Search settings" section of the Site Collection Administration and verify that it is setup to use a custom search scope and that it is pointed to your search center page.

Do you mean go to View Scopes and setup a new scope? Any kind of scope?

Thank you. At first I had my head in Central Admin.
As this is about search scopes I've got another question. Is it posiible to put google or some other search portal in search dropdown so dropdown has several items like
- This site: Portal
- All sites
- People
- Google
And if one chooses google that search is redirected to google results web page. Alternative to that would be using google search web part, but in that case there are two search boxes on page. There should be only one.
I would recommend opening another ticket for this question.
