I am not able to send outgoing mail on alerts from my MOSS 2007. It is installed as one frontend web server and one back end SQL server. When I try to generate an alert, say by uploading a doc etc, following error is reported in the logs"
There is no Web named "/sitename/Shared Documents/Forms/AllItems.a
spx"
Possible mismatch between the reported error with code = 0x81070504 and message: "There is no Web named "/sitename/Shared Documents/Forms/AllItems.a
spx"." and the returned error with code 0x80070002.
I have already done the following activities:
a. configured IIS SMTP Virtual Server.
b. configured the outgoing message feature from central admin site (both farm and application level)
c. Search Services are working properly
Also, I would like to add that my SMTP server needs authentication for sending emails. In Sharepoint, I don't see any method of mentioning authentication info.
