The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

You can create custom scopes for each different site and you can add a web part called "Advanced Search Box".

04.27.2008 at 03:43PM PDT, ID: 21450651
can you give me the steps how to do that. for example i have created a content and crawling named domain shares. and i want to add that to my recordscenter website.  actually i went under scope on admin site and  added that domainshares as a rule under scope fo recordscenter website. but when i try to search it still looks under the same website only.

This has been discussed with great detail on this question a few weeks ago:

I'm afraid I don't exactly know what you did, but the output was definitely different than what I got.  My only assumption is that it wasn't done exactly the way I did it.

One thing I'm noticing right off the bat, when you set up this advanced search, you didn't point it to a different search results page did you?  Because that's not necessary in order to make the search results appear.

How it works is: User goes to the Advanced Search Box Web Part on the page.  They check the boxes associated with the scope they are searching for (which you previously made available using the search scopes editing pages), then they put in all their information they want to find (like the contains search field) and the search results get shown on the same page as any other search would yield.  Try deleting the search results page entry on the advanced search box options and just leave it default or blank.  That will fix your issue.
You should be getting a http://portalname/searchcenter/pages/results.aspx type link after you hit "search" from your advanced search box web part.

Go to the web part, go to "modify Web Part" from the drop down bar, under "Miscellaneous", check the link under "Results URL" and ensure its default.  If this doesn't work, I suggest you triple check the steps you followed.

Btw, when you say "when i am using advance search", does that mean you're actually trying to search for something in your advanced web part search bar, or does that mean you're going to that page where the advanced search bar should be, it's causing you problems to open that page?

The reason why I'm a little skeptical is because it's too easy to overlook something in the steps.  Please take the time and do it once more on a different page.  Also, ensure  that your scopes are set up properly (that you actually have a new search scope).
