Sharepoint   second webserver

hi, could someone give me a quick explanation please  dont get how its working

have a working farm, and just added a second webserver to it.

when i browse the local site  it opens up the site with the first servers name  

test env
eg  sp is installed on server SP1   I add SP2     when i browse iis Virtual directory on SP2  it shows SP1. in the url box

there is also the load balanced url  as thats not iin dns how does it work  all request go to SP1  and then a few off loaded to SP2?
