Hide Sharepoint navigation elements from users that do not have permission for them

Asked by PACCAST-DEV in MOSS-Sharepoint

In WSS 3.0 I have created a help desk site. I do not regular users of the site to see things like the top navigation tabs "home", "Operations", "Application Management", etc... because when they click the tabs they are prompted to logon as a user that has permissions to those areas. Is there some setting to hide controls and links from users that have no permissions for them?
