I am running WSS 3.0 on Server 2k3 with SQL 2k5 on the same machine. We only have 1 site and it's currently titled
http://sharepoint. We need to change this to
http://companyweb.
I tried using the stsadm renamesite option in SP1, but apparently we are on a path-based site and that didn't work. I also tried doing an stsadm backup of
http://sharepoint, deleting the
http://sharepoint site, and then restoring the backup to
http://compnayweb (as I found as a posed solution in my web searching), and this failed with the error:
"The Web application at
http://companyweb could not be found. Verify that you have typed the URL correctly. If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application"
So i restored to the original
http://sharepoint url and it's back to normal.
This site is in use with a fair amount of data attached to it already, so starting from scratch isn't an option.
What am I missing?
