We need to migrate our current Sharepoint Services 2.0 sites to our new servers.
1. I've backed up the Sharepoint databases using this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833797 2. I've backed up the Sharepoint sites using smigrate
3. I've also backed up the Sharepoint sites using stsadm too.
they have a lot of stuff in the Sharepoint sites and they use it all the time.
Questions are:
1. Do i need the Sharepoint database restored? or can i just create a fresh new one instead? what problems would i get if i create a new database and restore the sites?
2. I cannot migrate the Sharepoint databases without SQL Enterprise Manager installed on the server. Unfortunately we have Server 2003: Web Edition installed, so it won't let me install any SQL stuff. We have another server that has SQL 2005 installed on it, so is it possible to install SQL 2000 with SQL 2005 in one box running at the same time?
3. What is the best way to move the whole Sharepoint to another server? I basically want everything move so that it will work/look the same way.
