Hello. I am having problems getting my Sharepoint site accessible via the Internet. It works fine and is available on our Intranet but I would now like to have it accessible via the Internet. This is what I've done but I must be missing a step somewhere ...
(1) Built a Windows 2003 Server (server name: MAIN) and loaded SharePoint 2007
(2) Had a DNS entry made (both internal/external DNS) to have CUBS.UC.EDU point towards my Windows 2003 SharePoint server MAIN.UC.EDU. I want to use this new url CUBS.UC.EDU for my new Sharepoint site.
(3) Created a new web application using the following settings:
PORT: 80
HOST HEADER: CUBS.UC.EDU
PATH: <provided path to where I wanted this stored on disc)
NTLM
Allow Anonymous: NO
SSL: NO
URL:
http://CUBS.UC.EDU Created a new application pool for this site and gave a user name/pw
Filled out the appropriate Database settings
Created Web Application
(4) Create a Site Collection using this new web application:
URL:
http://CUBS.UC.EDU/ BLANK SITE template
Gave it both a PRIMARY and SECONDARY site Collection Administrator
When I completed both of those steps, I was then able to access it via our INTRANET however I cannot access via the Internet.
To try and resolve this, I then:
(1) Had another DNS entry made (both internal/external) to have BEARS.UC.EDU point towards my Windows 2003 SharePoint server MAIN.UC.EDU.
(2) Extended the above Web Application with the following settings:
CREATE A NEW IIS WEB SITE
PORT: 80
HOST HEADER: BEARS.UC.EDU
PATH: Gave it a path to where I wanted this stored
NTLM
Anonymous: NO
SSL: NO
URL:
http://BEARS.UC.EDU:80 ZONE: Internet
This did extend the web applicatin to this URL however I still CANNOT access via the Internet. I can access via our INTRANET.
I finally went into Alternate Access Mappings to see if I could find the problem and these are the settings:
INTERNAL URL ZONE PUBLIC URL FOR ZONE
http://cubs.uc.edu default
http://cubs.uc.edu http://bears.uc.edu default
http://bears.uc.eduAny thoughts on how to get this sharepoint site available via the INTERNET?
