I am planning to use WSS 3.0 as an engine for our Intranet website. We have a lot of PDF files that will be stored there. I see that it is fairly easy to upload files but I am having problems finding a way to upload a new versions of a file. How do I do that so I can also keep the old version but only the most current one is available to the public? Is it possible to do that?

Thanks. So just to make sure. If I want to upload a new version of a pdf file I need to do the following (assuming that the versioning is enabled):
- check the existing PDF file out (it goes to My Documents\SharePoint Drafts - can you change this location or it will always go there?)
- replace the checked out file with a new version
- check in it back
Is this correct?
Nope. Attached is the only messages that pops-out when I want to check-out a file. Do I need to enable the 'Save to' option somewhere?

I am working through this issue and also want to be able to submit a Word Doc to the same revision history because word documents in this instance can develop into a PDF. I a library with the revision history setup according to the instructions but if i upload a word document i can't seem to upload a new version that is a pdf.

Yes. You have to create a document library that has versioning turned on. Then you have to set the versioning so that a checkout is required to upload a new file.
