but a sharepoint site is not a standard website. All of its contents are inside of a sql database... I believe there is an stsadmin command for this, but I am not sure.

I would like to know if there is anyway to backup a site to a flat file for archival purposes? W e have old project sites that I would like to take offline to free up space, but I want to make sure that I have adequate backups of the data.

Figured this out... Was able to use the following command to "export" the data from only the site I wanted. To restore the site, just create a blank site and restore the flat file and it is identical. I dont have my exact notes on this but the command is close to below:
stsadm -o export -url http://www.xxx.com/sitea/s
To re-import:
create new "blank" site
stsadm -o import -url http://www.xxx.com/sitea/b
