Originally had .net 2.0 sp2, .net 3.0 sp2, .net 3.5 sp1installed no errors in log.
someon tried to install Avepoint 4.5, since it did not support .net 3.5 sp1, followed their KB article
--------------------------
DocAve does not currently support .NET Framework 3.5 with Service Pack1 applied. While trying to install / uninstall DocAve the following error message may appear: "Error 1772: There is a problem with this windows installer package."
When upgrading to 3.5 SP1, it also adds SP2 to .Net 2.0 and 3.0.
What causes this issue is .Net 2.0 with SP2.
To make it work, please do the following to go back to .Net 3.5.
1. uninstall .Net 3.5 SP1 from "Add and Remove Program Files"
2. uninstall .Net 3.0 SP2 from "Add and Remove Program Files"
3. uninstall .Net 2.0 SP2 from "Add and Remove Program Files"
4. Install .Net 3.5 (no SP1) http://www.microsoft.com/d
5. Go to IIS Manager and goto each Web Sites properties, set ASP.Net version to 2.0.50727.
6. Run iisreset
--------------------------
After all these steps the sharepoint stopped working.
IIS is totally not rendering any page, no central administration even. it seems that iis compeltely lost its isapi configuration.
Can some one shed some light on this issue.
