I set up a single server instance of WSS 3.0 on a Windows 2003 server, running SQL 2000 back in March for a small intranet working with Office 2003. At some point between then and July, I lost the ability to specify the default document template when creating a new library. Specifically, the new.aspx form for a new document library contains only the following 4 sections: Name and Description, Navigation, Incoming E-Mail & finally Document Version History. The "Document Template" section, which provides a drop-down menu to select Word, PowerPoint, Excel, or Web Part Pages, etc. is missing.
When I create a new web application, the section exists.
I suspect it has something to do with my meddling around with site content types in that time period. Unfortunately, the time between my meddling and the discovery of the problem was several months and I no longer remember all of my sins. I think at one point I may have accidentally made changes to the site content type "Document" and/or selected the "Update all content types inheriting from the type" option while doing so.
Any ideas as to what I broke?
Sincerely,
Campbell
