I am doing it... :) So DNS is the only place to set it up? There is nothing I should do in Sharepoint or IIS? Some more detailed instructions would be appreciated.

Sharepoint host headers setup
I have MOSS 2007 running on Windows Server 2008 and IIS 7. It is an Intranet portal accessible only on LAN. I need to setup host headers to have friendly URLs.
Currently I have the following:
http://servername/ - default site
http://servername:20000 - Central Administration
http://servername:30000 - My Sites
I would like to have the following:
http://intranet.ourdomain.
http://admin.intranet.ourd
http://mysites.intranet.ou
Can somebody provide me with clear instructions how to achieve it?

Who is manageing the DNS servers in your network ? Speak with them and ask them to create a record in the internal and external dns for those user friendly urls
