Question

WSS 3.0 Search Server remaining in "Crawling Full" indefinitely

A full crawl has been configured against our WSS 3.0 Sharepoint site. When invoked the content source remains in Crawling Full status indefinitely and content is not cataloged. The crawl worked previously but now appears to be hanging. We have already reset all crawled content and modified the underlying table indexes to allow duplicates.

 

A message is repeating in the Event Viewer:

Event ID: 10027

Description: Failed to commit transaction in SQL. DocID is 4041.

Context: Application ShareholderServices, Catalog AnchorProject

 

 

What causes the crawler to break, and hang in crawling Full status ?
